The Vecoplan® VTH-VU Series™ horizontal shredders, or wood grinders as this industry has come to know them, are designed especially for size reduction of wood strips, edge rippings, slabs, and all long wood scrap, as well as lineal plastic scrap such as siding and vinyl window profiles.

The VTH-VU Series™ family contains six different models, ranging from 40 to 125 hp. Infeed widths range from 12 in to 33 in. Larger custom models are available in some styles. Each machine comes complete with a pre-wired control panel and 16 ft vibration conveyor for infeed of the feedstock. Multiple feed rollers grip material coming from the conveyor and advance the material into the cutting rotor. The feed rate is determined by the amperage load that processing places on the cutting rotor, which in turn sends a signal to both the conveyor and the feed rollers for adjustment of the feed rate.

Description N/A The Vecoplan® VTH 35/8/2 VU Horizontal Shredder is designed to shred virtually any lineal, wood or plastic, scrap. With a 14 in x 3.5 in infeed opening, it comes standard with a 16 ft vibratory infeed conveyor and easily processes wood strips, edge rippings, slabs, or any long wood scrap, as well as PVC siding, window profiles, plastic and composite lumber, or other lineal plastic scrap. Additional Information N/A The VTH-VU Series™ Horizontal Shredders are available with optional cutting rotor designs. These shredder models are also available with a precision granulator or drum chipper rotor in 2 to 4-knife configurations in a moderately open design. The knife rotor turns at moderate RPM and utilizes sharp knives similar to conventional granulator or chipper blades. A unique clamping system secures the knives in place and affords many sharpening intervals. When a small and uniform granulate or chip is needed, the knife rotor is suggested. If a larger and rougher particle size is acceptable, the VTH-VU Series™ models are supplied with the patented TorsionPoint™ “U”-Rotor™. Vecoplan® has used this rotor in its vertical shredders since 1983 and is the preferred shredding method used in industry today. In the wood industry, Vecoplan® has been producing high quality drum chippers since 1969.

While durability and extremely low maintenance are highly valuable benefits of the VTH-VU Series™, they pale in comparison to the performance it delivers. The unique design and resulting efficiencies contribute to both a lower purchase price and lower subsequent operating costs.

The feed rate is determined by the amperage load that processing places on the cutting rotor, which in turn sends a signal to both the conveyor and the feed rollers for adjustment of the feed rate. Particle size, or chip size, is determined by changeable sizing screens similar to Vecoplan’s vertical shredders.
